Rías Baixas is a winegrowing region located in the northwestern corner of Spain in the Galicia area. While a small amount of red wine is produced, it is the white wines from the Albariño grape that have made Rías Baixas famous for its highly aromatic and refreshing white wine. The wines are dry and tend to display qualities such as ripe peach, apricot, and lemon zest.

Albariño's fresh acidity makes it a fine contrast to foods that are rich, salty, oily, fatty, or mildly spicy. The wine also pairs nicely with tart foods such as vinaigrettes, capers, leeks, and tomatoes. Rías Baixas is an excellent accompaniment to fish and shellfish.
