Pinot Blanc, aka Pinot Bianco in Italy and Weissburgunder in Germany, is best known as an Alsatian varietal, but is also grown widely in Austria, Italy, Germany. Pinot Blanc is lighter but has similar characteristics to unoaked Chardonnay, often showing aromas and flavors of baked bread and fresh apples, with moderate acidity. The winegrowers of Alto Adige, Italy take particular pride in their Pinot Biancos, where they are commonly seen as an aperitivo or served with antipasti.

Alsatian Pinot Blanc is a great accompaniment to cold meats, crudités, and picnic fare.
