Malbec is the deeply colored and tannic red grape once widely used as a component in the blended red wines of Bordeaux. Today, Malbec is used less in Bordeaux and more readily associated with the Mendoza region of Argentina and the Cahors region in southwestern France. Malbec produces wines of good acidity, firm tannins, full body, and rich black fruit.
