Preview of things to come at the WineToMatch blog

By way of letting you what you’ll be seeing in the coming months and years on this blog, I want to introduce you briefly to our Master Sommelier, Jesse Becker, and to talk a little bit about what he’ll be doing at WineToMatch. As you may have read in our FAQs, Jesse provided the intelligence that drives the logic in our wine pairing engine, but his role goes way beyond that. As a partner in this venture, Jesse will be continually fine-tuning the behavior of the WineToMatch application, and lending his voice to this blog.

For those who don’t know Jesse, you can learn a little about his on-paper credentials by reading the short biography that we’ve published. Jesse is one of a younger generation of sommeliers currently rising to prominent in the industry and one of the youngest Master Sommeliers in the world. As you might expect, Jesse has a passion for using technology to reach out to new wine lovers and wine lovers to-be. Related to this, one of the chief goals of WineToMatch is to demystify the task of wine pairing and to reduce the intimidation and nervousness that new wine drinkers experience when selecting wines at restaurants and to serve to their guests.

On this blog, Jesse will be sharing his thoughts and experiences working for both WineToMatch and The Boiler Room in Omaha—two young enterprises both lucky to have Jesse’s involvement. Jesse will be writing weekly in-depth articles about wine pairing and the concepts behind it. In addition, he will do frequent brief posts about particular food and wine combos, highlighting seasonal selections or picks from his favorite chefs or winemakers. In a couple of months, we hope to debut a series of video posts as well where Jesse gives an in-depth look into a topic in the sommelier field.

On these pages, you’ll also see major announcements about promotions (all you party hosts, look out for our “Take-Home Sommelier” drawing), upgrades, new features and hopefully the occasional press clipping. We hope that you find this blog to be educational and fun and that it stokes your passion for wine.
